You get me, Komiza

I must say Vis had been a bit of a letdown. I had heard great things but Friday wasn't a great introduction and the rain Saturday really hindered activities. I did have a very nice meal of tender lamb grilled on an open wood fired grill last evening - and more free raki!

While it rained all night, this morning the forecast seemed promising. The season is ending quickly and again the option for tours was limited. The two options would be sailing to include the blue cave and a few beaches or the military tour of the Yugoslavian defensive remnants. As neither were a go today, after breakfast with the Serbians, I grabbed the noon bus to Komiza. A small town on the western coast.

Komiza is like something from an island fairytale. A crumbling old town surrounding a gorgeous harbor. The rain ushered in some cooler temperatures, so swimming didn’t seem realistic but reading and relaxing to the distinct sounds of the sea rolling the pebbly beach is intoxicating.  (It reminds me a bit of the view out to the sea of anchored sailboats and distant islands on Tortola - there are even palm trees)

[so many stray cats. And hippies/dirty backpackers?]
