Yes, I am on the island of Vis which is where Momma Mia 2 was filmed. I am sorry to say I haven’t seen it.
Of all the Croatian island - remember 1200 - this is the furthest west. And it was occupied by the Yugoslav army so it escaped development.
It’s a large island and has two towns. I’m in Vis Town which is where the ferry docks. There is a huge protected bay. The town doesn’t have the medieval walls or grand homes of the other islands. It’s simple and a mix of old basic stonework and some fairly new construction. There is a Greek cemetery as well as a small English plot. And a long promenade that runs from the ferry terminal all around the bay.
It doesn’t seem terribly busy but the weather forecast isn’t great so perhaps folks are out and about while they can.
(I just overheard a very detailed conversation about a wedding that is being moved from Saturday to Sunday due to the weather)
My room is quite basic and after checking in I took a long walk to one of the beaches along the long promenade.
There was due to be a konoba near the beach for lunch but unfortunately there is a large condo project nearby and they seem to have demoed the beach bar.
The water is so clear and I love that every beach is a different style of pebble. This was small and white as if they had trucked hundreds of tons of driveway stones.
