Last night was fun. Perhaps a little too much. I got back to the room at about 2300/11pm and the waterfront was in full swing even for late September.
A whole line of larger cruise style ships that had docks for the night and the beat of the techno bars just below me.
After my drink at this little alley bar called 'Backlane' I made my way next door to Medeterreao which apparently was Hvar's first restaurant back in the 1950s.
The server was very helpful and I settled on beef tartar with a quail egg, some grated soft cheese and grainy mustard on toasted bread. Amazing. Main course was soy marinated tuna hard seared and served with real and extremely powerful wasabi. Then came the raki. And done nice chats with the staff. And a free wine. And then back to Backlane for an espresso martini.
Thankfully it was cloudy and sprinkling this morning so moving slowly wasn't an issue. I even rinsed out some clothes. Breakfast watching the ferry's load and unload and then off to find a water taxi to an island.
It's only 15 minutes but it's like another world - I'd guess Greece. The Pakleni island has a few secluded coves surrounded by scrubby pine, crystal clear waters and pebbly beaches. I landed at Mlini Beach. Just gorgeous. And relaxing.
