So as much as I ramble on about how much I love travelling solo - don't get me wrong, it has it drawbacks. The biggest being "other people keeping you motivated". Even thought the jetlag wasn't bad - travel is taxing on your body. When travelling with a group, I am much more likely to heed my own advice and keep going right off the plane and get oriented to the new time zone. Needless to say that didn't happen on Saturday and while my late night dinner was awesome. After sleeping in way too late, I was pretty out of it yesterday. So after my giant Stella, I hit the market on the way home and got a good night of new normal sleep.
After a nice leisurely breakast on the deck (bought sour cream? instead of yogurt) I headed out to find the city bus tour and found things are quite a bit busier on a weekday. I moved up the enormous Ave 9 de July - at least 8 lanes and a grassy median strip. This is where the famous Obelisk is located marking in the heart of the downtown. There are loads of very ornate European style mostly government buildings here. And at the end of a long street is the Plaza de Mayo which is the site of my political demonstrations as well at Eva Peron's address to the people (no, she didn't sing it!). Honestly it is nothing spectatular and crawling with people. Especially a pedestrian lane called Calle Florida. So I am people watching from a bookstore cafe and waiting on my tour bus.
Blog is great - sounds wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteLast night on Amazing Race they were in Santiago and Valpariso, Chile - are you taping while you are away?
Mom
No, I am not taping it this season. But I guess I should be! Any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteNot really, just looks like a neat, colorful area. Funicular ride maybe - it is very hilly!
