Not to see but to do!

So a few observations to share -

Contrary to my intitial post about "taking your breath away" the is nothing about Buenos Aires that is breath-taking! It is a big city with lots of people and traffic and noise. And except for the lack of famous edifices it could easily be New York or Chicago. The city tour was pretty boring all-in-all, but it does give some perspective of the size of the city and what places are worth going back to see in detail. (San Telmo and La Boca neighborhood will be soon) There are loads of taxis and a subway but so far I find it quite walkable.
There are loads of tourists here. I couldn't believe how busy the bus was. However there appear to be few Americans and other English speaking tourists. And speaking of english, I'm getting by pretty well. And honestly I'm not sure a little more study really would have helped. The accent is so important and I just don't have it. But the people are friendly enough for a city and we point and laugh a lot. (not sure we are laughing at the same things).

The weather was not great yesterday and it rained had last night. It wasn't cleared this morning so I spent some time organizing a few side trips and then for a massage. Saturday hot and humid but otherwise it hasn't been uncomfortablely warm.

So on to the DO part I have booked a "closed door dinner" which is actually in a private home with a few other people on Saturday. I am going to book a tango show. And a day trip to an estancia for a cowboy show and an assado (which is a big BBQ)

More observations.
The top portion of all the street signs are advertisements for Claro - the local cell phone company.
As big and busy as it is - there are lots and lots of trees lining the streets.
Along side the high end boutiques etc are little Mom and Pop fruit stores and butchers.
Every store has a security guard.
Dulce de leche is this sweet caramel sauce that is served with dessert and at breakfast. (it will be served in Tom Nevers)
I've seen Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King, Staples and Papa Ginos so far.
Down at the port there is a floating casino that looks like a Mississippi paddleboat.
Damn Americans!
