The land of Stella the giant!

So based on my test post last week, I'm am not certain that the picture will post [it didn't] but I will tell you from experience that one litre Stella Artois is quite the norm here. So I will continue with the theme and tell you that I am eating at a little cafe called el Club de la Milanesa named in honor of it's signature dish - a pounded flat steak, fried and topped with cheese, ham and two fried eggs!

Although all my flights were delayed and overbooked - the trip was quite uneventful. I even managed to sleep a good bit of the night. (I have to plug every other long haul airline I have ever flown - American Airlines was pretty bad!) The time difference is two hours ahead of the east coast and after breezing through immigration and customs I hopped a private taxi - called a remis - and headed to the apartment. The apartment is on the top floor of a nine story building in Recoleta - which is a popular tourist area. I must say that I really lucked out. The place is really nice and I feel at home already. The roof deck is killer. Private enough and the whole street is very quiet. Everyone has balconies and they are filled with plants. Once I get to the market, I plan to have my morning coffee and afternoon cocktail outside. It was very warm and humid yesterday but today was sunny and warm but drier with a nice breeze. After a well deserved snooze last evening I headed out for dinner at about 1130. I was told that the locals dine late and they do! I found a few places close by and decided on a casserole of mostly beans with some meats and sausage and a bottle of wine. It was near 3 when I went to bed and I decide to just sleep in this morning. After wandering around Recoleta today it all comes back to Stella the giant. And to that I say salud!
