So my last day on the road has been very relaxing. After a nice breakast at the vineyard I did thier little tour - the wines are excellent! And then wound up just relaxing at the pool and chatting with the staff until almost 3 pm.
Once on the road Santiago was only an hour away. So I wandered around a little artesian market area and then made my final food stop - Fuente Alemana (German Fountain) it is similiar to Lomits (the sandwich counter) but it is lean pork loin on a large hamburger bun - completo (avocado, sauerkraut, and mayo) and instead of men in red jackets, it is ladies in tan dresses with white hairnet type hats. (very Soviet they wear numbers not name tags and there are little boxes on the bar with numbers and that is where the tips go! The ladies do all the food preperation and there is not a rubber glove or hand sink to be found) After here I will head to the airport and return the rental car. Flight is at midnight. Not sure of the condition of the airport - earthquake hit it hard.
[bit of a mess at the airport but not too terrible. Can't imagine the mess of a football field sized room with all the ceiling tiles collapsed down on everything else. Counter folks were really nice scored a good seat]
I have mixed emotions today. I guess since the flight is so late it doesn't seem like I am leaving. I want a night in my own bed and to exchange all my clothes. But the idea of going back to the grind is painful. In any case, next post from the USA!
[final pisco sour but just not the same at the airport]
