I have repacked the bags and it is hard to believe that three weeks have passed so quickly. The remainder of the trip will likely be much more active and as much as I have gotten quite comfortable at Juncal 1627 - I am ready to move on.
I am just back from the futbol game and it was, as promised, quite an event. This game was held in the local stadium in the bario - La Boca. If you have been paying attention that is the old port with the colorfully painted buildings. We were a group of about thirty and I was able to chat a bit with a guy from Berlin and another from Prague. Boca Juniors was hosting Racing and while we lost it wasn't so much the game as the spectacle of the spectators - quite a show indeed!
So for my last meal in the city, I am taking the recommendation of Bernie from Toronto and am dining al fresco at Lo de Jesus - a parrilla.
[the sidewalk cafe concept. I am dining on the sidewalk with amenities that rival the dining room - chandeliers, a booth and a hedge row that shields us from the street. The funny thing is the other citizens walking along. Apparently in Buenos Aires you own your sidewalk and can do just about anything you want - or in some cases don't want - to do! Some are just terrible]
Yes, I am hooked on blood sausage so I guess I need to find a supplier in the US. And with a nice big salad of arugula, shaved parmesean and grape tomatoes I top off the night with a tremendous rare, tender and very tasty filet of beef.
(Jesus himself has just suggested a very nice frozen chocolate mousse with of course dulce de leche)
My flight is at 6AM which means the rental agent will be by at 415AM to check me out. It is 1215 AM now and I am just finishing dinner and will stop at Casa Bar to say goodbye to Louisa and Brent. So it will be a short night and a whole travel day but my next dispatch will be from Patagonia. (Edit: uggh - didn´t realize how sick I was getting here)
