Take the nook at the end of a long mountain pass add a deep blue lakefront and some compact little chalets (hobbit houses) with perfect little lawns and magnificant rose and flower gardens and you get San Martin de Los Andes. (and far more impressive than I was expecting) I am settled into an empty restaurant (it is a Sunday in mid fall now - can't imagine this place in winter crawling with skiers) with a roaring fire and some Diana Krall and am enjoying one of my favorite meals - a cheese and meat platter with fresh breads and an Argentinian Syrah. And finishing my book.
Tomorrow after breakast I will head back to Bariloche for my final night in Argentina. The boat and bus crossing to Chile starts very early on Tuesday and lasts about 12 hours. I hope it is worth it!
