Whaaat what!

So for those of you that are asking yourself - why exactly three weeks in just one spot and then four weeks on the rest of the trek. Well the truth is I wanted to see if I could do it. Afterall I am not really a city boy. And while I enjoy a trip to Boston, I've never really lived in a city. Part of the reason for this blog is - could I support myself if I lived overseas? (travel writing?) The idea would be to base yourself in one location and use whatever skills you could muster to forge a living. The side trips would come later.

My intitial response would be that it has been a rousing sucess.

The silly little things that wake you up in the middle - what if I get lost, I don't the language, where's a grocery store -or the most basic - I really like hanging on my sofa in Tom Nevers watching Lost with Jack (ps Lost is advertised on every bus stop in the city). They still come and go but they aren't really a problem. (I walked all the way home from the ferry terminal on Friday night -it was pouring and there was not a cab to be had - and didn't even need to use a map).

And you miss your pals (and trivia night) but you so meet people along the way. The "closed door dinner" was interesting. The food was excellent - it was a seafood theme - but we were seated at two tables one of 10 and one of 4 which kind of broke up the flow of conversation. I was at the table of four but was with the only "local" of the evening who was interesting to chat with (an American who moved here with Argentine wife 3 years ago). Our host while quite a talented cook was not overly warm and welcoming as you would expect for someone holding a dinner in thier home

I have also become friendly with the bartenders at an awesome little bar "Casa Bar" which is just around the corner. Louisa is from Colombia and Brent just moved here two weeks ago from Oregon.

Tonight I am going to a dinner and tango show with Kevin and John from Nantucket. I'm sure it will be touristy but it should be fun.

So, in case you were wondering, it is all good so far.
