Don't cry for me Colonia

So here I am at the Burgebus terminal awaiting my return to BsAs. Colonia is one hour ahead of Argentina so while I changed ny watch on arrival, I never changed the phone (get on it Jobs!) so what I thought a 915 alarm was actually a 1015 alarm. Needless to say I started the day with a late breakfast and check out at the hotel.

[once o get to a real computer I am adding favorite hotels - I invite you to comment appropriately. Posada Plaza Mayor was just lovely and definately moves onto the list]

So for 50 Uruguayan pesos I visited a few of the very small and all in Spanish museums. And all in all, an hours diversion. Then I headed out of the old town toward a nice beach that turned out to be very sketchy at best and then returned to familiar haunts to read my book. (the weather is turning and while warm it is becoming more overcast and very windy)

[I can't say enough about Cormac McCarthy's "the road" - very disturbing and jarring but excellent so far]

And bit more of a wander around and I wish I had overslept another hour. I return to a busy cafe called "the drugstore" which is in the shadow of the oldest church in Uruguay (very modest but nice)
After a bit of a wait, I order some sangria and a traditional stew. It's quite good but perhaps a little too hearty for a 90• day. I knew that they didn't take credit - which hasn't been a problem with the camera money (another story) but I am down to my last 50 AR pesos which doesn't quite cover the bill. So after a mad dash to an ATM I have a 10 peso coin for the jar at home and what looks like a stormy ride ahead. But at least I will have AR cash for a taxi home.

Salud Colonia!
