So yes there were peacocks on todays adventure. And they were plentiful. And in limited experience with peacocks you never see them strutting their plumage. Although I suspect this one was trying to draw attention away from some chicks.
Lokrum is a short 15 minute ferry ride from the port. It is a nature preserve. And while ferry was packed to about 100 people, it was remarkably peaceful.
There is a lot of mature trees and shrubs that line stone pathways. The big draw is the former monastery and I have to say there is something about the beauty of the cloister area. The columns and the garden get me every time.
There of course is no beach per se, just some incredibly rocky plateaus and cliffs. Thankfully the island has installed pool ladders to make it easier to get into the water. And the water is very salty so you float easily over the rocks below. (I must say, water shoes, are a must)
After a walk around , a swim and some sun I'm feeling a little hungry and head over to the restaurant. It's a nice spot overlooking a little garden and out to the sea. I'm thinking of just having a lite lunch so I order two starters - smoked tuna and salmon and a meat and cheese plate. Of course, they are huge. So I linger and read and before I know it it is time to grab the 415 ferry.
I know this sku SA trivial but it just goes to show how small the world is, I ran out of shaving cream today and I only have one razor left. At the little corner store, I got the right razor refill and cream. Who knew! (Made in Germany by Gillette)
I have laundry out and I didn't think I would be back to get it today. But tomorrow I need to pack up for the final leg.
As I was back in the apartment, I once again took my hosts suggestion and climbed out onto the roof - this time for sunset. It didn't disappoint. And I didn't fall off. Although all I was drinking was iced tea.
After a huge lunch I wasn't quite sure about dinner. And I'm also really tiring of the standard Croatian fare. At the end of the street below the room, there is an area I haven't frequented and there is a little tapas bar. I can't believe I ordered the black ink risotto but it was really delicious and a perfect size. The cheese and spinach rolls didn't do it for me.
(But the crème caramel and the fig rakija did)
