I must say the bed is perhaps the best so far. Firm and it seems to be a one piece double. Even a proper duvet with a blanket.
I was planning to sleep in but the shop keeper gave me the bums rush and I only grabbed some juice and a chocolate bar. So I found another alley restaurant - they are everywhere - for a coffee with sweet whipped cream and pancakes - which are actually crepes stuffed with Nutella and bananas. I could have done with a proper coffee. Whatever that is.
I am headed to a free walking tour. I’m surprised how small the city really is, as the view from the roof seems much larger. (It is much smaller than Kings Landing without the dragons) There is a long wide street that separates the north and south. And the entire city is still surrounded by thick walls. There is some fascinating architecture. Baroque in style. Sadly there is also earthquake and war damage.
After the tour I am hungry and head toward a seafood restaurant called Moby Dick. It is highly recommended. I am seated between two other parties and am drawn to order the stuffed squid - cheese and prosciutto - it is amazing. But I am also drawn into conversations on both sides of my table. Two couples from Melbourne that have just jumped off a 100 person cruise. And a mother/daughter from NYC who have been to Albania.
It’s all good fun. And in the end, I strike up a conversation with a waiter and suddenly there is rakija.
After a short reprise, I wander into a different Buza bar which is a bit nicer than the previous night. The Adriatic serves as a nice focus to ponder life.
Things are a bit busy and I recall that there is a concert in one of the small churches. It’s just an hour, three pieces - violin, cello and piano - and a nice selection of classical, jazz and even Hollywood including the Game of Thrones theme. It was really excellent.
My final stop - I think - is a Bosnian restaurant! I had all intentions of trying klepe - which are Bosnian raviolis - my last night in Sarajevo but the brewery interfered. So I have just finished a plate of pasta stuffed with veal and served in a cream sauce. It is one of the most popular spots in Dubrovnik. And a good way to wrap up the night.
