As one of my fellow travellers remarked - this is marketing genius. Three boats, four buses, two countries and baggage handling all for one remarkably high price. But despite the price and the early hour, it is another gorgeous day and the views off the boat across the mirrored lake and onto the tree covered mountains is worth the price.
The whole trip takes 12 hours with a stop for lunch in Puella, Chile. My innkeeper John Joy will meet me in Puerto Varas and get me to his place. The plans for Chile are still fluid. I have booked the end in Santiago and Valparaiso but the middle will need some work. The Chilian side of the Andes is much lush and geologically active (even before last week) There are active volcanos and thermal waters galore. As well as lots of active sports. I am still planing on at least a bit of winery touring as well.
[after a long but beautiful and very enjoyable day, I am offically and legally in Chile]
