I have a few side trip planned using BsAs as a base. One will be to the northwest region and a town called Salta. From what I can tell it is very much our desert southwest but it does have a few valleys that are now producing wine.
The other side trip will be to Uruguay and the small town of Colonia. It is a quick ferry trip across the harbor and I will likely send the night (or two). After that I will fly down to Argentine Patagonia, for a short stay at a secluded lodge with excursions by horseback and boat out to the glaciers. (It looks amazing!) Then a short stay in the lakes region and the tourist town of Bariloche before crossing the lakes and the Andes into Chile.
This part of the trip is not very well flushed out yet. But the innkeeper at my first hotel in Puerto Varas had told me that he will help me to organize my way northward to Santiago. I'm renting a car for most of this leg of the trip - so I will have quite a bit of flexibility.
Once I reach Santiago, I am hoping to hit a few more vineyards on my way to Valparaiso which is on the Pacific coast. And then home again (easy right?)
I've never tried blogging before but I know I have a few fans of my travelog emails and I figured this was the next logical choice. Apparently I will be able to post via email (which is kind of cool) not exactly sure how to post pictures with my iPhone yet. And best of all you all will be able to comment. You can also email me at my yahoo account but please don't call or text me as the international rates are budget busting.
So that's the plan in a nutshell. Until next time - Adios!
Scott, great job! Can't wait to keep you with you from afar!
